Paperfindr is a micro-credit platform for academic paper access, aimed at students and independent researchers who cannot justify per-paper publisher pricing and do not have working institutional access. Users top up a credit balance through a local payment gateway, then submit a DOI or article link; one credit is deducted per retrieval and refunded automatically when a fetch fails. The Next.js frontend covers authentication, the credit wallet, top-up, and download history, backed by an ElysiaJS API on Bun that queues retrieval jobs and reconciles gateway callbacks against the credit ledger.
